The garbage man

I used to work at Harbourfront Centre in a variety of roles but mostly as a garbage man. Late through the night we would pick up garbage from the tourist boats along the piers of Queen's Quay, sometimes they would give us food from the buffet. During the day we would sweep cigarette butts from the boardwalk.

Every night we would pick up tons of garbage and recycling from the thousands of visitors who come Toronto's waterfront and the many restaurants onsite

Bags of coconut shells, Buckets of grease and spilled backs of rice too often mistaken for maggots. All the garbage from the site was collected through the night and thrown into a hastily built garbage truck and transported to Turtle Island, a local transfer station for private waste in the Portlands.

I have had more than a few 'garbage fights' in my life and used diapers were definitely in play.
